About this piece
Large kalga (paisley) forms curl and interlock across the shawl, each filled with fine stitches in rust, paprika, rose and leaf green, outlined in pale blue and gold. The embroidery is so dense that the shawl reads almost like a woven jamawar, yet every motif is worked entirely by hand. A deep serrated border rises from the plain taupe ends, framing the field like an antique Kashmir shawl.
