About this piece
In Kashmiri kalamkari, the design is first drawn by hand with a kalam (pen), then brought to life with fine silk embroidery. Here, interlocking paisleys and floral medallions in taupe, ivory, olive, rose and lilac cover the shawl, ending in a deep border of large paisleys above plain blush pink ends. The result has the richness of a jamawar and the softness of pastel pashmina.
