About this piece
Star-shaped medallions and a floral lattice are embroidered in lilac, ivory, sky blue and gold across a taupe-brown ground, so densely that the shawl reads like a woven jamawar. Towards each end the ground deepens to black, with a fringe of embroidered flowers marking the change. The ombre effect makes it as striking draped open as it is wrapped.
